How to Bypass Internet Filters without a Proxy?
Internet filters can be great because they can reduce time wastage by employees by preventing access to sites such as social media platforms, what is more, having uncensored access to the internet can be unsafe, for example for children or for companies who’s secure information could be put at risk if employees accessed certain sites. However, it can be annoying when adult users come across sites that they would consider safe, and therefore want to view but find out that they can’t as the site has been filtered for example by a workplace.
Some people have discovered that it is possible to access blocked websites with a proxy, however as internet filters are becoming smarter, many proxy’s are becoming inadequate. Thankfully, even in you don’t have access to the administer rights for the internet filter, you can still bypass the internet filter and view restricted websites, even without a proxy. All you need to do is find the websites IP address, and here is how:
- Command Prompt
Launch your computers Command Prompt by searching for ‘Command Prompt’ in your computers search window, and pressing enter.
- Ping wesbitename.com
When the command prompt comes up type ‘ping websitename.com’ into the prompt. Make sure to replace ‘websitename’ with the actual websites URL that you are trying to access.
- IP address
An IP address, which is a series of numbers and spaces, will appear in the Command prompt, and you will need to copy it.
- Web browser
Paste the websites IP address into the URL field of your web browser and press enter. Internet filters do not block websites IP addresses so you will be able to access the site you wanted to view.
To help you to have even more success with accessing restricted sites, you should consider connecting to a VPN. VPN’s prevent companies and their internet filters from seeing what you are doing, and instead will only see an encrypted connection is accessing data. As a result, the internet filter will be unable to block your access, unless they block all VPN connections, and this is highly unlikely.
